WHY I SUPPORT OUR KIDS: Our Kids Center is an organization close to my heart - I serve on the Executive Board of Directors, the Development Committee, and am a Sophie Society Member. The Our Kids Center provides expert medical evaluations and crisis counseling for children and families struggling with the issue of child sexual abuse. It is an eyebrow raising statistic, but what if I told you that 1-in-4 girls and 1-in-7 boys will be subjected to sexual abuse before the age of 18? What if I told you that 95% of the time, the perpetrators of abuse are known and trusted by the child or family? The Our Kids Center was founded 38 years ago and has helped over 31,000 children with 24/7 coverage with no cost be charged to the victims or their families. It is one of the largest clinics of its kind in the country and the clinical and counseling services they provide are one of a kind.
